Long-Term Care

Northumberland County is committed to protecting the health and well-being of residents and staff. Infection prevention and control measures such as PPE for all staff, mandatory masking for visitors, regular screening and testing, and enhanced cleaning practices remain in place at the Golden Plough Lodge. Please see the information below for other COVID-19 measures and updates.

COVID-19 measures and updates

  • All general visitors, including children under the age of 5, can resume visits
  • Four indoor visitors per resident are currently permitted. These may be any combination of general visitors and/or essential caregivers
  • Proof of vaccination for essential caregivers and visitors is no longer required
  • Visitors will undergo active screening and Rapid Antigen Testing (except children 5 years old and younger)
  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided
  • Limits on outdoor visits have been lifted and our regular practices on use of available outdoor spaces are in place
  • Testing for outdoor visits is not required
  • Palliative care visits will be maintained, with full PPE

The Golden Plough Lodge (GPL) is an accredited 151-bed municipal long-term care home located in Cobourg. At the GPL, we follow the Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care to enhance a resident-centred community and we are committed to ensuring dignity, respect and compassion are the cornerstones of our home and the services we provide.

Our rates

Our accommodation rates are set each July by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Subsidized rates may be offered for basic rooms, based upon resident annual income.
