  • We responded to over 28,000 calls in 2023  
  • We employ more than 130 Primary Care and Advanced Care Paramedics
  • We have six response stations from which we serve the municipalities of Northumberland
  • We have a fleet of 14 ambulances, five emergency response vehicles and a community support vehicle

Ambulance bases

Response stations are located strategically throughout the county to provide quick responses to emergency calls. Please note that paramedics may not always be at the station — always call 911 in an emergency. 

Non-emergency in-home health services 

Northumberland Paramedics' Community Paramedicine programs delivers free, non-emergency in-home health care directly to residents in need. Please visit our Community Paramedicine page for more information.

Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) program 

Northumberland Paramedics manages a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) program, maintaining Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in many community facilities throughout Northumberland County. These AEDs are provided for access by members of the public in response to cardiac arrest.

Careers with Northumberland Paramedics 

Northumberland Paramedics are certified as either Primary Care Paramedics (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP). PCPs have received at least two years of college education, along with continuing medical education four times per year. Advanced Care Paramedics have received the foundational two years of college education, as well as at least one additional year of specialized education, and attend continuing education sessions four times per year.

Obtain a patient care record

Patient privacy is important to us. Please refer to the information below on how to apply to obtain a patient care record:

Requests from patients or those authorized on their behalf

A detailed application form is required to request the release of patient health information (PHI). In order from Northumberland Paramedics to disclose PHI, we must obtain consent of the individual to whom the information pertains or their legally identified substitute decision maker. PHI will only be disclosed for reasons allowed under the Personal health Information protection Act (PHIPA) 2004. 

You may complete the application form online however, due to the nature of these requests, you may also present government-issued identification (ID) in person prior to the release of any documents. You may present ID at the time of document pick-up at 600 William Street, Suite 300, Cobourg.
