Digital Northumberland

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses have been forced to quickly pivot their business operations to online platforms.  The Economic Recovery Task Force recognizes the importance of small businesses having an online presence to continue operations. The Digital Northumberland program has been launched to assist Northumberland County small businesses with a full, comprehensive Digital Assessment and to receive a financial investment of up to $2,500 to assist with digital upgrades to enhance online capacity. 

Digital Northumberland is based on first come first served basis based on available funds for tourism sector businesses. Applications are reviewed for eligibility. Upon application submission you will receive an automated email confirming your application has been received.

Business eligibility

• Small existing business (operating business for 12 months+).
• Tourism businesses located in Northumberland County.  Sectors in the category of: Accommodation, performing arts, art/artist or artisan, festivals, heritage, area attractions, agri-tourism, restaurant/dining, specialty shopping/retail, outdoor adventure experiences, spa/retreats.
• Businesses who have had digital work completed from March 1, 2021 until the present, may be considered for subsidy (must show completed and paid invoice).
• Applications close December 31, 2021 or until funds have been exhausted.

Financial support

Yes (financial investment). Applicant must remit payment to local vendor first, then submit proof of payment to Program Coordinator. Upon receiving paid invoice, applicant will be forwarded a cheque in the business name. 

NOTE: Investment may not be used for; digital equipment, social media paid advertisements/boost posts, consultation fees, training fees, web hosting fees or staff wages etc.

Examples of investment use can be; website upgrade, implement e-commerce, social media management, business photography / videography.

Amount

Up to $2,500 (not including HST) based on proof of payment and invoice from local vendor.

Digital squad

Yes. Financial support, education, digital mentorship. You will receive a full comprehensive digital assessment report (PDF) on your current digital presence in the areas of; social media, Google listing, website, e-mail marketing.
